International Conference and Interdisciplinary Design Workshops for Young Architects, Designers, Landscape Architects and graduate students


This year, for one more year ECOWEEK brings together the best among ecologically minded-architects, designers, landscape architects, young professionals, and graduate students, in a week of creative thinking 'out of the box', cooperation, dialogue, intercultural exchange, networking, hard work and lots of fun!

ECOWEEK 2011 is a great opportunity for young professionals to learn about 'green' buildings, to hear and meet the best architects in the field, to learn from the best engineers and experts in the field, to train and gain experience in how to think, plan and design 'green'.

ECOWEEK includes lectures and keynote lectures by international speakers, documentaries, thematic lectures, environmental software training, interdisciplinary workshops, site visits, and more!

ECOWEEK has invited since 2005 internationally acclaimed speakers, expert architects, landscape architects and engineers to give lectures about their projects, explain how 'green' buildings work and how we design and operate them, to lead design workshops and share their experience, expertise and skills with young professioinals, and to give us insights and inspire us about sustainable solutions in design and beyond. ABOUT ECOWEEK 2011 in Milano, Italy (completed in September 18, 2011)

ECOWEEK brought together in Milano, for the first time in Italy, nearly 200 young and established professionals - architects, designers, landscape architects and engineers from more than 10 countries - including Italy, Greece, Denmark, Germany, Russia, Romania, Poland, Serbia, USA and China - for a cultural, ecological, and architectural network happening.

ECOWEEK 2011 in Milano took place in September 12-18, and the theme was 'Urban Communities and 'Green' Architecture', involving professionals from Italy, Denmark and Greece who led one-week intense 'green' design workshops on Urban sustainability, social sustainability, new building sustainable design, existing building sustainable design, and the merging of 'green' Architecture and design.

ECOWEEK 2011 program in Milano included keynote lecture by award winning French architect Francoise-Helene Jourda, lectures by architect Marco Visconti, ARUP, Green Building Council Italia, Mario Cucinella Architects, London Olympics 2012, Italia Nostra, Integrated Environmental Solutions, Cite de l'Architecture, Architetti Senza Frontiere, Design for All Italia, Telefono Azzurro, Geologos Sin Fronteras Italia, and others.

ECOWEEK 2011 was hosted by the Politecnico di Milano Bovisa, Camera del Lavoro Metropolitana Milano, Fondazione Giangacomo Feltrinelli, Casa dell' Energia, and was made possible thanks to ECOWEEK cooperation with the Ordine degli Architetti , the British Council, Lycee Stendhal, Embassy of Sweden, and media partners CASABELLA, DETAIL, ECOLOGIK, CSRWire and others.

ABOUT ECOWEEK

ECOWEEK is an independent non-governmental organization (NGO) with international activity. Its mission is to raise public environmental awareness and involvement of the public and especially young people, in environmental protection, 'green' building and initiating activities that promote sustainability and innovation. ECOWEEK was established in Greece in 2005, and today is active in Europe and the Middle East.
