and Lukasz Zagala. We are multidisciplinary studio involved
in architecture, urban planning, graphic and industrial design
projects. The studio cooperates with professional engineering
companies and takes active part in realization of investments
as author's superviser and substiture investor. We realize our
projects as a general design studio. Our office is in Bytom's
city center at Jozefczaka 35 street located within our own development
- an abandoned warehouse (1400 sqm) which we renovated and adapted
for office purposes. The office occupies the attic floor of
the building which, thanks to the absence of partitions and
the white-painted walls and ceilings, provides a very roomy
office space for over 20 people who work there, along with many
possibilities for formal and informal meetings. We have partner
offices in major Polish cities, i.e. in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Lodz,
Krakow and Gdansk. This enables us to efficiently realize projects

SHOOTING RANGE BUILDING, Krakow
|
click for larger image
|
The theme of the workshops is the SHOOTING RANGE premises
in Wola Justowska. The historic building of the shooting range
moved from one owner to another for many years. With time
the building is not used and is decaying. The last plan for
re-using the building was withdrawn due to public protest.
People in the community have feared that the proposed plan
of a large-scale services center would change the peaceful
character of the area. However, it is well known and accepted
that in order to bring the building back to life, a compromise
is necessary to bridge between the investor and the local
residents.
HISTORY: The Shooting Range was built in 1887. It has
survived two World Wars and the Communist era. During Annexation
the building was used for military purposes by the Austrians
soldiers, members of Rifle Club, Pilsudski's legionaries.
In the mid-War and after The Second World War the building,
including the pavilion with centrally situated rotunda belonged
to Krakow's garrison. Then the land became the property of
the Treasury Department. In 1993 it was listed by the Art
Monuments registry. Today it stands abandoned, in a state
of ruin.
AIM: The aim of the ECOWEEK WORKSHOPS is to work out
a balanced resolution and solution, which brings back to life
this historic building while it maintains its architectural
and historic value.
