ECOWEEK 2012 : Urban FOOTPRINT + Affordable
COMMUNITIES + Green DESIGN
International Conference & Workshops for Architecture &
Design
for Young Architects, Designers, Landscape Architects and graduate
students
Keynote speaker: KENGO KUMA, Architec, Japan
In Rome, for the second time in Italy, ECOWEEK brings together the
best among ecologically minded-architects, designers, landscape
architects, young professionals, and graduate students, in a week
of creative thinking 'out of the box', cooperation, dialogue, intercultural
exchange, networking, hard work and lots of fun!
ECOWEEK 2012 is a great opportunity for young professionals to share
ideas about 'green' buildings and 'green' urban planning, to hear
and meet other professionals, some of whom are the best architects
in the field, to learn from the experts in the field, to train and
gain experience in how to think, plan and design 'green'within existing cities and communities.
The ECOWEEK workshops aim to address REAL issues, in REAL sites,
aiming to give the opportunity to young professinals to get a 'taste
of the real world' and how 'green' Design and Ecological Buildings
can make a difference in the city, in the neighborhoods, and in
the communities.
Don't miss it!
WHAT'S NEW in ECOWEEK 2012 in Rome?
(a) This is the first ECOWEEK in Rome! Rome, one of the most architecturally
significant cities in the world, is the host of ECOWEEK 2012. We
hope to see you all come back for a taste of history, architectural
spendor, networking, 'green' design brainstorming, and for an intensive
and fun week in Rome!
(b) In cooperation with a number of local and international partners,
ECOWEEK workshops are aiming to address REAL issues in REAL sites
within Rome. The workshop themes will evolve around two main themes:
(a) Tiber as the water axis in the city, as a potential platform
for design solutions for pedestrian and bicycle routes, as an axis
for sustainable transportation in the city, perhaps as an axis for
temporary housing (floating?), as an axis for green open space within
the city, and as an axis to connect historic and community spaces.
(b) Low income communities, such as the Tor Bella Monaca neighborhood,
as a platform for community regeneration, new uses, public and private
space, social housing, and the preservation and sustainable regeneration
of the urban and social fabric.
(c) The
ECOWEEKGREENHOUSE, the new initiative for innovation,
social and environmental entrepreneurship, which is already active
in Greece and Israel, is scheduled to also start its first project
in Italy. More details here.
